maybe everyone else already knew this, but...

I felt like God showed me that I needed to read the "love chapter" in Corinthians but for the first time ever, to read it as a description of His love. That sounds ridiculously "duh," but I realized that I think I've only ever read it as instruction on how I am supposed to love others or how to recognize godly love from others. Really though, when I consider that God is love, 1Corinthians describes His love for me as well as who He is. It makes even more sense when I think about God as personified in Jesus (if we know Jesus, we know the Father). So this, dear friends, is the amazing, loving God that we (i.e., believers of the Gospel) serve:

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
